Aswan second day, the west bank

After a swim in the hotel pool, we took a motor boat to the west bank. We visited the tombs of the nobles which date from the old and middle kingdoms - up to 2000 BC. We visited two big tombs cut into the rock with columns supporting them. They contained frescoes of figures and hierolglyphs in good condition. We climbed to the top of the sand dune to Kubbet-al-Hawa to see maginificent views of the Nile in both directions and nubian villages. The nubians are tall and black and wear long robes (white/grey for men and black for women). They seem to be in the majority in Aswan and say first: 'I am a Nubian'. Returned on local ferry and had falaffels in the souk.
