Weather is very important when planning a cycle trip. We looked at forecasts of temperature and rainfall for November. As we were going in the second week, we decided to be optimistic. However, we definitely didn't want too much rain or extreme cold.
On arrival at Bologna airport it was foggy and it was raining. After our train ride to Rimini it was still raining, although the ride to the hotel was very short.
That was a bad start, but things got better - we didn't have any more rain during the trip.
The day of our first ride along the coast started fine and it became sunny by midday. We did have to struggle against a strong east wind. It was cold by evening.
For our ride from Fano to Urbino we had a cold start, but it got warmer and was sunny by midday. The temperature fell in the afternoon and was very cold by evening - but Urbino is at 400m. During our sightseeing period in Urbino, the first day was extremely cold. We put on all the clothes we had - but a bossy american tourist advised us where we could buy coats! (We didn't).
After that, it got warmer and sunnier. On the whole, better than we had expected.
