Montbéliard

Montbéliard is a medium-sized town close to the border if Franceh Comté and Alsace. All that remains of the chateau built in the 15th century are the two big round towers. It was a German enclave in France from 1397 until the revolution. During this time, the architect Schickhardt designed some elegant renaissance buildings. The people of Montbéliard became protestants, hence the Lutheran Church. The largest Peugeot factory is to the east of the town.
