We drove with Xavier along the valley of Séveraissette to Molines for the start of a walk to the Col de Fond -Froid. We went up through woods on a steep path past a cabin, then out into the open. Xavier went ahead, and then George and I reached a group of rocks within site of what we thought was the col. Then the path unexpectedly branched to the left before turning back to the right and snaking up the hill. It became steeper and more and more slippery. Jean stuck by a rock and George pressed on but Xavier came down again and advised us not to go any further as there was lots of snow ahead. We had a picnic by the rocks and then went down again.
