Herefordshire and the Welsh Border
3rd - 9th July 2008
Our first tandem trip of 2008 was intended to test the riders and their steed; the former did quite well, but unfortunately the tandem’s front wheel broke on our way to the station on the last day. We’re having a new wheel built in time for the longer trip we plan for September.
Despite that, the trip was very enjoyable, passing through an amazing variety of excellent scenery and interesting historic towns. Highlights included Llanthony Priory, Gospel Pass, Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow, Leominster, Ross-on-Wye and Symond’s Yat.
A seven day trip on our Moulton tandem
We used First Great Western trains to travel between Paddington and Newport South Wales. We booked on-line at the excellent National Express website, booking for 2 bikes to cater for the tandem. The tandem travelled in the guards van.
