Bologna

We spent our last night at the Hotel Rossini in the university quarter of Bologna. We had spent a few days at a workshop in Bologna in 1990 and were happy to renew our memories of that area. The university originates from the 12th century. Bologna has a number of tall brick towers - in the 12th century, the wealthy families vied with one another to build towers - only a few remain today.

In the morning we walked to the main square and visited the big gothic basilica of S. Petronio as well as Palazzo Communale with its immense staircase.

At about 2pm we collected our bikes form the hotel and rode out to the airport.
