Saqqara

On our last morning in Egypt the sleeper train from Luxor brought us into Cairo station at 7a.m. We decided to book a taxi for the morning to take us to Saqqara to see Zoser's step pyramid and then on to the airport. We drove through many small farming villages on the way, seeing some villas belonging to rich Cairoenes. The Saqqara pyramis are even older than those at Giza and on a similarly desert site, but with many less tourists.
